Sexual & Pelvic Floor concerns that can be treated with Pelvic PT

Physical Therapy for Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain is pain in/around your pelvis. Dr. Esther refers to it as “Discomfort in or around your underwear.”

This can include but is not limited to pain with sex, lack of sexual stimulation/sensation deficits, erectile dysfunction, penile/testicular pain, rectal pain, ovarian pain, prostate cancer related dysfunctions, hysterectomy related dysfunctions, or discomfort associated with cosmetic surgical procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck, etc. This also includes but is not limited to pain and restrictions associated with endometriosis, fibroids, heavy menstrual cycles, fertility treatments, implants, or pain/anxiety associated with sexual activity. Chronic constipation and bladder issues can also be a driving force for pelvic pain.

This is such a sensitive topic and area that not many people want to discuss openly, but at The Pelvic Place Physical Therapy, we know how impactful dysfunctions in this area can be on your social life, intimate life, and your mental health. While others can empathize over ankle pain or headaches, it doesn’t quite translate when the concern is “My vagina hurts”, “My Penis/scrotum hurts”, “I can’t sit or focus for too long because my insides hurt”.   These are the concerns we hear and treat daily. Dr. Esther Amagoh has successfully treated the most minor cases of pelvic pain to severe chronic pain that has persisted for decades. While surgery and medications are mainstream options, Pelvic Physical Therapy is the only option with no side effects that assesses your individual concerns while integrating your daily activities, muscle function, and psychological responses.

The Pelvic Place Physical Therapy utilizes the most advanced, yet non-invasive treatment options to expedite healing and promote optimal function. Research shows that at least 1 in 4 females have some sort of pain with intercourse.

Ask yourself, does insertion hurt? Does friction hurt? What about deep thrust? Do you feel great after sex or do feel like you need pain medications and time alone?  Does the thought of sex make you feel anxious and nervous? Can you feel sex? Does it feel pleasurable or do you feel like it is a task?

“The more you think about sex, the more you think about sex.” Sex should be sacred/fun moments experienced with whom you choose to share yourself with. Unfortunately, things like childbirth, menopause, past medical history of cancer, or unpleasant interactions all have an ability to negatively impact our sexual experience. In some cases, you are mentally prepared to have intercourse, but you are unable to get aroused or stay aroused. In some cases, the vaginal opening may feel like a wall that’s unwilling to budge. Don’t force it and stop stressing because that further programs negative muscle memory.

The Pelvic Place Physical Therapy has successfully treated just about every sexual dysfunction there is in males and females. We are experts! We will listen respectfully, and together we will develop a treatment plan that will effectively and efficiently help you reach your goal.  Pelvic Physical Therapy is the only treatment option with no side-effects and assesses your individual concerns while integrating your daily activities, muscle function, and psychological responses. The Pelvic Place Physical Therapy utilizes the most advanced yet non-invasive techniques to expedite healing and optimize functional mobility. Treatments are pain-free and include a thorough consultation, internal and external pelvic floor treatments to strengthen or relax the target muscles, EMG Biofeedback, Laser Therapy, Ultrasound Therapy, Pelvic Floor Dilators/Trainers, Dry needling/Acupuncture, Electrical stimulation, and/or life-size pelvic display models for education and visual assistance.
